Hi! I Have A Crackling Sound In My Right Ear.

Hi! I have a crackling sound in my right ear. It comes and goes, it isn't constant. My doctor said it could possibly be a twitching muscle behind the ear drum. Is this possible and is there anything that can be done to stop it? It is very annoying.
