Hi I Have A Wisdom Tooth Erupting. The Dentist Prescribed

I have a wisdom tooth erupting. The dentist prescribed antibiotics and pain killers to which the pain and swelling reduced. However after 2 weeks I started experiencing the same pain and visited the dentist.
He said that the tooth has to be removed as there seems to be the staring stages of liquid like pus accumulation.
Could you please tell me if this could be treated without the tooth being extracted.
