Hi I Have Been Experiencing Discomfort During Sex With My

I have been experiencing discomfort during sex with my partner. Recently I went for a Pap smear and it came back clean but I asked my dr to check the side of my vaginal canal. Inside it feels like a flap of skin has become loose. This is where the discomfort and pain is during sex. She suggested it might be the remnants of a hymen but I have not had this pain or skin there in the past. Wondering if it could have torn loose from sex and/ or if there's any remedy aside from changing positions and stopping when it becomes too painful.
