Hi I Have Throat Pain That Was Treated As A

Hi I have throat pain that was treated as a virus and then I was given amoxicillin and it helped but did not cure completely. I had my tonsils removed years ago due to chronic tonsillitis and never had strep. It feels like raw sores or severe post nasal drip without other symptoms but I can't see that far down so I am going to an ENT this week.. Any idea what this is.?
