Hi I Just Had A Tonsillectomy Done This Morning. I

Hi I just had a tonsillectomy done this morning. I let the doctor know I had a croupy cough prior to surgery and he let me know I could get an otc cough medicine. However I'm not sure if I should get the one that will also help thin the mucus or if I should just stick to the cough suppressant only. The only medicine I am taking is the pain medicine he prescribed
