Hi I Noticed A Tiny Pin Prick Size Black Dot

Hi I noticed a tiny pin prick size black dot on my eye carincle it's since turnt into a fleshy lump and the black dot has become a lot bigger spreading across the lump and no longer just a little dot, I've been referred by my optitian to an eye specialist but have since seen on the internet that this may be a caruncle tumour. My mum recently passed away from a brain tumour and I was just wondering the seriousness of the situation if it is a caruncle tumour?
