Hi, I Quit Smoking A Year Ago. I Always Felt

Hi, I quit smoking a year ago. I always felt like my lungs were inflamed and I had a chronic cough. I had thought quitting would have made the symptoms go away. I have seen my dr and a pulmonary specialist. I have tried many different types of inhalers. None made a difference. I could feel the inhalers opening up my airways and actually made me hyperventilate a bit. I constantly clear my throat and when I cough I feel a rattle in my lungs. I coughing because there is something rattling in there. The only time I felt better was when I took an antibiotic. I was on one for 10 days and I went back to my dr a month later and told him I had felt great on the medicine but that my symptoms had returned we tried the antibiotic again and helped a little the 2nd time and I went back a month after and told him and tried the antibiotic a 3rd time and it didn't help at all. Now recently I had a sinus infection and I was given the z pack and again I felt great and my symptoms disappeared. The pulmonary specialist has no answers they now have me on Spiriva which hasn't really helped. Any ideas??? I want my dr to give me a strong long term antibiotic. But he says no
