Hi I Quite My Birth Control Two Months Ago And

Hi I quite my birth control two months ago and had a period from March 3 (approx) to March 10 and due to unforeseen reasons, my husband and I have decided to hold off on trying for another baby if I am not currently pregnant. I have not had a period since March and have not had a single positive test since then (most recent one was this morning) can I safely restart my pills? Will it harm the fetus if I am pregnant but just too early to detect on a home test?
