Hi I Recently Found Out That After 17yrs The Reason

Hi I recently found out that after 17yrs the reason my wrist always hurts is that the scaphoid bone is fractured. I recall falling heavily on my wrist playing sport years ago and it swelled up and took ages for the swelling to go down and I put it down to a bad sprain and learnt to live with the dull pain everyday. The range of motion in the wrist is not too bad but not as good as my other one. Besides doing nothing and leaving the wrist as is. What are my other options, and if I do need surgery will it be successful and will I be able to play sport. How long will recovery be as I am quite active.
