Hi I Started Taking The Pill A Couple Of Days

Hi I started taking the pill a couple of days ago and I've now had my period for 6 days and it's still quite heavy (normally only last 4-5 days) if I stop taking the pill will it stop my period or how long until it stops if I keep taking the pill? Or how can I make my period stop ?
