Hi I Was Hit By A Car 2 Years Ago

Hi I was hit by a car 2 years ago and had my left leg broken between the neia and ankle . both bones where broke one in 2 places , I have a rod and plates to repair bones it also caused compartment syndrum damage that my doctor said caused eriversable damage to my nerves and tissue . I have constant swelling and pain and its hard to be on my feet more than a few hours per day . my question is what can I expect for more complications as I get older and is there anyway to repair the damage . my doctor told me a year ago that I should just go home and learn to live with the pain and there is nothing that could be done. im 57 years old
