Hi I Was In Hospital Last Week With Cellulitis On

Hi I was in hospital last week with cellulitis on my elbow. I am still on antibiotics and there is still minor swelling. My doctor advised me to keep the area moist to avoid further cracking of the skin and a new infection. Since applying moisturiser since the weekend I have noticed that the skin on this area is thicker and darker and is now peeling off in parts ... is this a normal part of the heeling process?
