Hi, I Was Recently Prescribed Methylprednisolone For An Ongoing Sore

Hi, I was recently prescribed methylprednisolone for an ongoing sore throat I got after being hit there. There's no internal damage as they could tell using a scope, and they prescribed the methylprednisolone for the ongoing soreness/bruised feeling, especially when swallowing and sneezing. What exactly is the methylprednisolone for?
