Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I went to the immediate care center due to a UTI and when they tested me for it I was told that I did not have one. 4 weeks later the symptoms worsened and spread to my kidney. The pain was awful so I went to the emergency room where they explained that I did in fact have a UTI and it has now spread to my kidney causing an infection. I was prescribed to Ciprofloxacin which I took twice a day for 7 days and now I'm experiencing what I think is a yeast infection. I understand that sometime this antibiotic can cause this especially if you've had one in the past, (I have). What is different about it is I am not experiencing the same symptoms. I am experiencing itching but it's more focused on the clitoris area but only really starts to itch/feel uncomfortable when it's touched. Even if I were to wipe myself. I do have the 'normal' looking discharge as you would find in a yeast infection but these are the only symptoms. Does it sound likely that this is a yeast infection caused by the antibiotic? Thank you.
