Hi I've Been On Microgyn 30. I Took It For

Hi I've been on microgyn 30. I took it for 16 days and then had a heavy bleed. I presumed it was an early period so stayed off for 7 days. All of which were heavy periods. I've now been on the pill for a further 6 days and started my next strip. Am I still protected. Concerned as I have a 5 month old.
