Hi I've Been On The Depo Shot For A Little

Hi I've been on the depo shot for a little over 2 years and I have never experienced any bleeding until a few months ago. I get it randomly and have had it now 5 times. I don't understand because it's never happened until now and it's bright red as if I'm ovulating. Isn't the shot suppose to stop ovulation?
