Hi. My 17 Month Old Son Has Been Diagnosed With

Hi. My 17 month old son has been diagnosed with tonsilitis. No swabs were done and he was prescribed penicillin which we started yesterday (on our 4th dose). This morning I have noticed his gums are really swollen and taking over his front teeth. He has really bad (rotten) breath. Is this part of the tonsillitis?
