Hi! My Apologies If This Is Very Long... Im 15

Hi! My apologies if this is very long... Im 15 years old. About 4 days ago, I was just trying some things out and i put a hairbrush handle in my vagina. That was the first time I had ever tried something like that. At that time, my period had already been 12 days late but it could be because i only started maybe a year and a few months ago? However, in the 2 days following that I felt some discomfort and itchiness. My vagina felt a little puffy and then I started what I believe to be my period. It came very unusually and very heavily and I don't know if something is wrong. I felt some discomfort while trying to put in a tampon today. I don't want to go to a gynecologist because I don't want my mom to know what I did... Does any of this seem unusual to you?
