Hi. My Boyfriend Is 52 Years Old And Has Spinal

Hi. My boyfriend is 52 years old and has spinal stenosis since he was in his mid thirties. He also has two blown disc in the L4 region. I'm not sure but that's probably why he has spinal stenosis. He is also diabetic. He is in pain and very limited physically. I'm encouraging him to look in laser surgery. Years ago his doctor advised not having the surgery due to the risks that he could end up paralyzed. Is there a lot more they can do today as opposed to almost twenty years ago and would his diabetes pose a huge risk.
