Hi, My Daughter Is 16 Months Old And Weight 10.5kgs.

Hi,

My daughter is 16 months old and weight 10.5kgs.
Last week she got a high fever lasted for 3 days and was diagnosed with teething syndrome and UTI. Pedia prescribed antibiotic cotrimoxazole. I think she felt better as she is no more crying when she pee and poop. However after taking the antibiotic for 4days she got fever again. Got worried and immediately consulted another pedia nearby and advised that based on the urine result she shouldn't be diagnosed with UTI, instead the only thing she noticed is her mouth. Her gums are swollen and has gingivitis. So she recommend to change the antibiotic and gave AmoxClav plus ZYTEE gel.

Is it ok not to continue the first prescribed antibiotics? Also, reading the package of Zytee Gel, it should not be given to younger children below 12 years old. Is it safe to apply it on ky baby?

Hoping to hear back from you.

Thank you
