Hi, My Son Was Taken To The ER For Abdominal

Hi, My son was taken to the ER for abdominal pains. Blood and urine results were fine. Dr. said my son had "pebbles" on his appendix, and was in the early stages of appendicitis but couldn't treat him since there is no infection. Is this common procedure? Do we just have to wait until he's in MORE pain before he can be treated?
