Hi, About 6 Days Ago I Woke Up With A

Hi, about 6 days ago I woke up with a rough patch on my right side of my upper lip. They appeared to be very very small bumps and a bit tender. They weren’t noticeable at all though unless I stretching my skin on my lips out or else was looking very close with a light shining on it. It was very rough spot feeling it with my tongue. The next day it spread more to the center of my top lip and now has spread to the left side of my top lip. I’ve been trying to keep chap stick on it because my lips have been horribly dry. I’m just scared it’s a cold sore. I honestly do not think there is any way I could have caught them but I’m just worried about spreading it to my kids. Nobody including my spouse has noticed this however. But it’s very noticeable to touch. And I’ve been biting at it even though I know I shouldn’t so it’s. A little scabbed but even so it isn’t noticeable. Any ideas what it may be??? I’d go to the dr but my insurance just expired. Thanks in advance
