Hi, For A Week Now I've Had Constant Pain In

Hi, for a week now I've had constant pain in my gum where the root of my tooth is. I've been to the dentist and they removed the decay from the back of my teeth, but the pain is still there and it gets worse when I bite into any food. The pain now feels like it's going into my jaw too. What could be causing this pain please?
