Hi Had Extreme Pain Under My Right And Left Ribs

Hi had extreme pain under my right and left ribs that radiated thru to my back two nights ago. My rib cage is still somewhat sore. I had some nausea and semi diahrrea about three times, meaning some formed feces and some very loose at the same time. I have been disgnosed with a hiatle hernia. Could this have caused this?
If not, what might the problem be. Thank u for any help u could give me.
