Hi I Have Been Taking The Mini Pill For About

Hi i have been taking the mini pill for about 9 months but have experienced spotting and irregular bleeding. Although I have not always taken it rigorously. I finished my packet about 5 days ago so have not had and pills in my system and have now renewed my old prescription for the combined pill which I have been on before.I am going back combined pill to regulate my period as I am getting married in 5 months. I am unclear whether to start to combined pill straight away or wait until I get a proper period. I am unsure because of my 5-6 day unprotected break.
