Hi I Just Inserted A Tampon For The First Time

Hi i just inserted a tampon for the first time and can still feel it in the vagina.. The manual says u r not supposed to feel it.. Also there is a very slight burning sensation... Have i done anything wrong? Also where is the tampon string supposed to lie after the tampon is inserted?
