Hi I Would Like To Seek Help My Father Was

Hi i would like to seek help my father was having a cough for almost 1month when he decided to consult a doctor. Upon his check up he was diagnose having pleural effusion we scheduled him for a thoracentesis. The fluid seen was almost 1300cc but only estimated of 450cc was removed. My question, is this alright? As of now we are still waiting for the result of the fluid culture, he still have cough upto now.

We also decided to have his gastric to be checked. We undergo whole abdomen ultrasound, and the result was hepatosplenomegaly the doctor suggested to have a endoscopy. I just don't understand why we need to do this. The doctor was only saying that we need to see his intestines to see if there are any polyps.. Is there any connections with the findings in his abdomen ultrasiund?
