Hi, my daughter had a spinal tap on Tuesday . She had been sick since Thursday last week and Sunday had a rash -today is day 10th. . Tuesday, I took her to her family physician and she was immediately sent to the ER ; the doctor suspect meningitis because she couldn't move her neck, had temperature and the light made her head really hurt. At the ER they preformed blood test to discard baterial meningitis and infection in her blood. After the blood test came negative she had a spinal tap and was treated with antivirals and antibiotics . the prognosis was viral meningitis. She stay until Wednesday noon and returned home. She has been getting a little better but now she cannot seat or walk because her spine hurts "all along her spine" and has to be laying on her tammy all the time. Do you know if it could be a side effect of the spinal tap ? or is because of the meningitis? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
