Hi My Husband Takes 2 60 Mg Time Release Morphine

Hi my husband takes 2 60 mg time release morphine for chronic back pain. [He's has 2 major back surgeries} He would like to cut down to 1 a day then eventually get off of them completely. He also takes .5 mg of Xanax 3 times daily. The Dr has prescribed him 50 mg Tramadol to take in between doses of morphine. Is this a safe combo?
