Hi, My Partner Is 54yrs Old, Pretty Healthy. But Last

Hi, my partner is 54yrs old, pretty healthy. But last April 2015 he had a PSA blood test done & the level was 6.3, he had another blood test last week & the PSA level was 7.8. His doctor still want's to leave him for an moth to have another blood test. The dr scanned his prostate & said it was a normal size, but I am concerned. Could please tell me is this normal to leave this so long?
