Hi The First Day Of My Period Is Horrible. I'm

Hi the first day of my period is horrible. I'm 24 and I started my period when I was 15. The first few years were fine. At 17 I started to get sharp pains on my first day then I would sweat then be very cold straight after and shake then I would feel like vomiting then faint. I would sleep and wake up fine. Doctors here Just say take pain killers. I don't think this is normal. Can you help?
