Hi There. I Am Recently Diagnosed Of High Blood Pressure.

Hi there. I am recently diagnosed of high blood pressure. My BP was 160/90-100 mmHg before any medications, but recently went up significantly higher to 170/110 mmHg. My doctor prescribed 2 lisinopril 20 mg in the morning and 2 metoprolol 20 mg at night. My heart rate is stable at 70-80 beats per minute.
Do I have to wait for weeks before my blood pressure goes down to a regular range? It seems like the medications are not working.
