Hi There, I Have Not Taken A Period Delay Tablet

Hi there, I have not taken a period delay tablet before and want to because of an upcoming festival. I can only get the tablets at the doctors tomorrow but I am worried I would have started my period by then. I understand they must be taken three days before the period is due but would they work If I took the tablet after starting my period?
