Hi there, I woke up Sunday morning with a VERY stiff and painful neck. It took me 4 hours to get out of bed and that was absolutely forcing myself because I'd realized I'd locked my bedroom door. Just rolling over to get my phone I cried. I had a slight headache the night before too which is very rare for me. Monday after making it to one of my holistic healers, she advised me to go to the ER to make sure I don't have meningitis. They ran some blood work but at the time said it doesn't appear that I have an infection so sent me home and told me to come back if I develop a fever or headache. I've pretty much been in bed since. A friend came over yesterday and gave me a deep tissue massage which helped my neck a little. It still hurts and is stiff but not nearly so bad. However yesterday my temperature did start going up and I started getting more flu-like symptoms including congestion, mucus, headache, etc. I typically run around 96 degrees and I feel like hell when it gets over 98, which yesterday it hit about 98.5, which for me is a fever. I slept almost 18 hours today, which has NEVER happened, not even when I had mono in high school. Typically sleeping 7 or 8 is a miracle, I've always had massive insomnia and typically run on 4-6 hours a day for months at a time. This morning I woke up coughing up yellow phlegm and my temperature is all over the place fluctuating between 96.6 and 98.6. I've had a decent headache all day too, right between my eyes and burning around my sinuses and eyes themselves. Based on what the ER said, maybe I should go back? But my temp is very fluctuant and I don't want to pay for an ER trip for them to try to tell me that 98 isn't a fever, which I've gotten before. I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm looking for a second opinion. I'm 24 years old, female. And I haven't had a doctor in almost 5 years, I switched to almost all holistic/eastern medicine doctors, so that's why I'm trying this.
