Hi There. I'm 39 Years Old & Had My Tonsils

Hi there. I'm 39 years old & had my tonsils & adenoids out when I was probably 7 years old or so. As an adult, whenever I get a phlegm type cough, the back of my throat gets really dry & I have uncontrollable coughing fits where I can't breath & sometimes my body ends up throwing up my food just to try to get the phlegm out. Could this be a long term side effect of that procedure?
