Hi...I am concerned about my daughter. She is 40 years old and is having trouble managing home and financial responsibilities. They have a beautiful home, but dishes pile up for days, closets are falling apart and filled from top to bottom with Stuff she never uses. She orders huge amounts of items on line such as cases of Coconut oil at a time, is deeply in debt and seems in complete denial of the seriousness of the situation. Her father and I have given huge amounts of money to keep them going, but I am concerned about her mental health. She is extremely intelligent, artsy, and has a lot of friends and does well socially, but does not take responsibility for the common sense things such as keeping the house and the young children well cared for. She is married, but her husband is enabling and keeps saying everything is fine. I just came from there and my heart breaks a little bit every time I see the situation. I was told by a psychologist that only her husband can do an intervention because he is immediate family and her dad and I are not because she is married. I have a brother who is severely paranoid and probably bipolar, but has never been diagnosed because my parents always took care of him. He is now homeless, since they are gone. Is there a chance that these symptoms could be a sign of bi polar or a mental illness? She is not receptive to going for help and I want to do what I can to make sure that the situation does not get worse and that the children are being cared for.
