Hi....I Have Had Fluid Behind My Eardrum For A Whole

Hi....I have had fluid behind my eardrum for a whole year. I'm being monitored by an ENT and he said either it will drain on its own or he can make a small hole in my eardrum to drain it, something i am not keen on. There is no infection, and he said the liquid is a golden yellow. It is very frustrating because I feel a fullness in my year. What do you recommend to help get rid of the fluid?
