How Can A Dog Scratch Be Treated?

I want to ask something about anti rabies vaccination. I suspect My one year old kid was scratched by dog. My doctor recommended me 4 doses of abhyarab 3 rd being on 7 th day and fourth on 28 th day. First dose was given after 48 hours and we didn t wash the wound for 48 hours too. Is the treatment right?? And what is the effectiveness of 4 or 5 doses of abhyarab vaccine?
