How Can A Foot Corn With Bleeding Be Treated?

I have a corn on the bottom of my foot, which confused me because I thought they only grew between your toes due to friction, but anyhow, I managed to get one on my foot. So I read you can remove them yourself by using a pumice stone, and I did, but it started bleeding really badly and I'm not sure if thats supposed to happen or what I did.
