How Can A Soft Ear Lump Be Treated?

I have a small pea-sized soft lump in front of my left ear. I have had lumps before which were like zits, but this is bigger, and it doesn't react like the others which i believe were/are sebaceous-cysts. I don't have health insurance, but would like to get rid of this thing. I've been washing it with an anti-bacterial soap and using hot compresses, but there does not appear to be any change. Any ideas on what it is and what i can do? thx!
