How Can A Swollen Skin Scab Near The Eye Be Treated?

need help my husband has a problem with his left eye between his nose and upper eye lid. It started out small but it has gotten to be the size of an eraser and the area is swollen the he says it hurts. It looked like a pimple at first, but now it looks like extra skin like scab.
