How Can Central Hearing Loss Be Treated?

I suspect that I have central hearing loss. For years I ve avoided going to the usual social spots like night clubs, noisy pubs, etc, because I cannot hear what anyone is saying to me, even close up. I also have difficulty understanding what people are saying to me, even in reduced noise; it sounds as if they re speaking in a different language, sometimes. I often have to get people to repeat what they ve said several times. My family are getting increasingly annoyed because they think I m either being ignorant or losing it . What s the fix - and if there isn t one, what s the prognosis?
