How Can Dark Lip Skin Discoloration Be Treated?

I used hair removal cream on my upper lip and got a small burn from the chemicals. That was two weeks ago, and the burn has healed since then, but I now have a small patch of dark discoloration where the burn used to be. Is this ever going to go away, and if so how long will it take?
