How Can Ear Thumping Which Comes Intermittently Be Treated?

Hello I'm Conrad an RN in the Emergency Dept of a major Trauma center, I have been suffering from occasional thumping in my rt. ear for about 2 months. It comes and goes at night, early am and during the day, if i put light pressure in my rt ear canal with my finger or ear plugs it stops any thoughts on what this could be?
