How Can Penis Area Redness Be Treated?

I have a red area on my penis. I looked up all the stds and the pics are all extreme and doesn't look like what I have. I would like to ease my mind or at least have an educated guess at what it is before I have to go to my doctors. I would be able to send a pic to help with the problem. Thanks
