How Can Sore Throat, Rhinitis, Excessive Thirst And Persistent Cough Be Treated?

ive had this cold for a week now, it started off with a sore throat and runny blocked nose. at one point i felt so thirsty i drunk loads but still felt thirsty. i noa have a persistent cough that sounds like barking it hurts so bad when i cough and my voice has gradually gone. i have never felt so sock in my life due to a cold, what should i be taking for it? should i be alarmed?? is it an infection?
