How Can Sore Throat With Pain Be Treated?

Hi, I have had a sore throat off and on for the last 3-4 weeks. The pain is only on the right hand side of my throat, somewhat above my adam's apple, and it usually is worse when I wake in the mornings. Most days that I wake with pain it decreases to almost nothing as the day goes on. What could this be from?
