How Common Is It For A Person To Contract Trichomoniasis

How common is it for a person to contract trichomoniasis without sexual intercourse? I was diagnose by pap smear testing positive for the bacteria causing trichomoniasis, my husband tested negative and I have not been unfaithful in our marriage. Research shows some doctors have stated it is possible to contract trich without intercourse and a nurse stated it is impossible. Some clarification would be great.
