Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 86 years old. She lives in assisted living. Her tongue was bothering her for about 6 months and her eating habit changed. She was diagnosed with MRSA about a week ago. She is taking a antibiotic and a pill once a day for her immune system. I informed the person in charge where she lives of her condition. She was moved out of her room, which was shared with another person. She is now in a room by herself, but someone still takes food to her three times a day. I asked my mother did the person have on gloves and she said no. I want to go see her but I have been reading about MRSA and the information says if you are a roommate with someone with MRSA you should wear a disposable gown, mask and gloves. I don t know what to do. I want to know how contagious is MRSA as far as hugging, holding hands, on your clothes, airborne.
