How Do I Know If I Need To Go To

How do I know if I need to go to the ER for symptoms perhaps related to Gall Bladder. Symptoms are confusing and I don't have insurance. Background I have had pain on my left side same area, under breast area, on ribs right at the bottom of rib cage and slightly above. Pain sharp off and on and also constant after weeks I went to the dr. and to beg to let me see him and he diagnosed me with shingles with no rash. Two days ago I have about the same pain on my right side, you can feel a little bump, when I touch it with my hand it hurts, same area on ribs and right on the rib cage. No weird stomach pains, after I eat or before. Does not get worse when I eat, or don't eat. No stomach issues. Have had some more recent indigestion but not heartburn, and that has been going on for a month or more. Nothing really bad. This pain on the right side, can be constant and some bursts of sharp pain for a few seconds, constant nagging pain and when I touch it it hurts on the skin and under. I don't want to ignore what could be a gallbladder issue but don't want to spend tons of money to go into the ER either. I can deal with shingle pain done it before. Is there anything that I can do at home to make sure yes I need to go in or not?
